As a Clinical Nurse II in the Emergency Department, you will play a crucial role in assessing, coordinating, planning, and implementing care for patients during their acute care stay. Your focus will be on ensuring a seamless patient experience and transition toward discharge. You will lead the caregiving team in providing competent and compassionate care to our diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Implementing physician orders, administering medications, initiating IVs, and performing treatments in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to accurately assess patient conditions.
- Conducting thorough patient assessments to determine needs and responses to care received.
- Utilizing sound nursing judgment to guide patient care management decisions.
- Providing emergency care for various occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administering medications as prescribed and monitoring patient outcomes.
- Collaborating with the nursing team to develop and maintain individualized Plans of Care.
- Guiding and directing ancillary personnel while upholding professional nursing standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree).
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.
- 1-3 years of clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department, preferably at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
- Understanding of quality improvement concepts and ability to apply them effectively.
The Emergency Department (ED) is a Level I Trauma Center and serves as a regional referral center for a wide variety of patients needing acute care. It operates 24/7 and welcomes patients of all ages. The ED features:
- 45 patient rooms, including areas for lower acuity patients.
- Distinct zones for Major Trauma, Resuscitation, Pediatrics, Acute Care, and Rapid Care.
- Dedicated waiting areas for pediatric patients and families.
- Supportive clinical operations with centralized workstations and essential facilities.
