Essential Job Functions:
As a Class B Waste Collection Driver, you'll be responsible for:
- Safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks to collect waste and recyclable materials.
- Transporting collected materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, completing multiple trips throughout your shift.
- Utilizing both manual and automatic trucks.
- Performing physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering materials weighing up to 100 pounds, while mounting and dismounting the truck repeatedly.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- A valid Class A or B CDL with an airbrake endorsement.
- At least 1 year of CDL driving experience in the past 7 years.
- A strong safety record and a clean driving record.
- Experience in the waste collection industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and traffic regulations.
- Fluency in English for effective communication and understanding of road signs.
- Ability to read and interpret maps.
- Physical capability to meet the demands of the job.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by DOT regulations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Navigating through congested communities and tight spaces is necessary.
- Proficiency in backing maneuvers is crucial for this position.
- Climbing in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts is routine.
- Conducting pre and post-trip truck inspections to ensure compliance with IWS safety standards and relevant regulations.
