Lead Desktop Systems Engineer

Summary

Join a prestigious global law firm as a Lead Desktop Systems Engineer and take on a vital role in enhancing our Azure and Intune environments. In this exciting opportunity, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of OS deployment, ensuring security, and enforcing group policies. Additionally, you will manage Active Directory, Group Policy, BitLocker, BIOS, and OS security policies. This position also involves handling level 3 support tickets and utilizing scripting and PowerShell to address vulnerabilities, all while ensuring exceptional client service and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procedures that streamline processes and enhance the user experience with applications and systems.
• Install, maintain, and administer Azure, Intune, Active Directory, GPO, OSD, Bitlocker, and Office365, ensuring that organizational needs are met.
• Utilize your extensive application knowledge to proactively manage and resolve complex issues relating to Active Directory, Azure, Intune, and related technologies.
• Engineer and oversee operating system deployments and software patch management through tools like RIS/WDS, WPE, MECM/SCCM/OSD, Intune, and WSUS.
• Evaluate and recommend hardware, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and peripherals.
• Ensure all operating systems are up-to-date with the latest security patches and service packs, using effective patch management and software distribution methods.
• Create and maintain automated installations and streamline administrative tasks through scripting languages such as PowerShell and Windows Host Script.
• Lead the creation of application installation packages using Task Sequencing, PowerShell, and Windows MSI.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure Intune and PowerShell to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
• Provide technical support to IT analysts, assisting with operating system deployments, cloud services, and application installations.
• Log support incidents and requests in our ticket management system, ensuring SLAs and OLAs are consistently met. Keep users informed with clear updates regarding incident resolutions.
• Prepare and update technical documentation, making complex subjects comprehensible for non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain availability outside of regular hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10+ years of experience in managing Microsoft Azure, Intune, and other Microsoft Cloud technologies.
• At least 5 years of experience in creating and supporting Operating System images for workstations and servers in enterprise settings.
• Experience in a legal environment is advantageous, particularly in managing and maintaining infrastructure related to operating systems, software, and patch distribution management.
• Strong scripting abilities, particularly in PowerShell, with familiarity in automating tasks.
• Extensive knowledge in creating application installation packages using Task Sequencing and PowerShell.
• Proficient in performing quality assurance and testing for client/server and web applications.
• Able to collaborate effectively with software development teams and business process owners.
• A solid understanding of the application lifecycle process, including requirement analysis, quality assurance, design, scheduling, implementation, issue tracking, version control, and deployment.

Salary ranges are provided below as required by law. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses, overtime (if applicable), health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The stated range is specific to this role and may vary based on market data, applicant experience, and qualifications.

Compensation: $140,000.00 - $185,000.00, plus bonus.
