Payroll Analyst - Houston, TX

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the full payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance from start to finish for a large, multi-state workforce (including California).
  • Manage and track unclaimed wages, garnishments, and employee overpayments, following up to ensure proper resolution and tax treatment.
  • Communicate with employees to resolve outstanding payroll issues, update personal information, and reissue payments as needed.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable and other departments on a variety of ongoing projects, often juggling multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Maintain and improve payroll procedures, leveraging advanced Excel skills and exploring new technologies for process optimization.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to payroll inquiries and supporting colleagues across the organization.
  • Assist with special projects, reporting, and serve as a backup for manual payroll processing as required.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and security of sensitive payroll data.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • At least 5 years of hands-on, end-to-end payroll processing experience, preferably in high-volume environments (10,000+ employees).
  • Proven ability to multitask and thrive in a setting where priorities shift frequently.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Vantage or Dayforce is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the maturity to handle sensitive situations and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Experience working in an office environment for at least 2 years.
