Position Summary

Partners with senior team members to provide human resources services throughout the organization, including strategic guidance related to talent planning, performance management, succession planning, retention, and workforce analytics to achieve organizational objectives. With guidance, ensures the business is aligned with human resources principles and enterprise strategy. Provides advice and counsel on various human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
  • The selected candidate will work from the Corporate Office in Erie, PA.
  • The Hiring Manager will also consider candidates for a Senior Human Resources Business Partner or Lead Human Resources Business Partner. Level of position offered will be based upon the depth and breadth of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • With appropriate guidance from senior team members, partners with business areas to develop and execute plans that optimize talent, structure, and process.
  • Assists in the integration of complex business factors to build business capability, develop leaders, and drive business change efforts.
  • Provides consultative HR support to Employees and management by analyzing and recommending solutions. Actively participates in staff meetings with assigned business areas as appropriate.
  • Understands business partner goals, objectives, and workforce needs by actively participating in staff meetings with assigned business area(s), as appropriate.
  • Advises on federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, regulations, and rules related to employment with regard to the application of policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison to the Human Resources Division, linking the needs of the business area to the services provided by the division.
  • With the assistance of senior team members, provides counsel in partnership with employee relations for the resolution of management/Employee issues, including corrective actions and Employee initiated concerns.
  • May assist in conducting investigations with the guidance of employee relations.
  • May assist management with documenting voluntary and involuntary terminations of employment and conducting exit interviews.
  • Conducts or assists with various training programs.
  • May assist with periodic audits of human resources activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • With guidance from senior team members, tracks and analyzes statistical workforce data related to corrective action and turnover rates, as well as emerging trends that require action to mitigate talent related risks.
  • Completes special projects as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in a client focused HR Business Partner role, employee relations, or a related human resources field required, or
  • Associate degree and five years of experience in a client focused HR Business Partner role, employee relations, or a related human resources field required, or
  • High school diploma or equivalent and seven years of experience in a client focused HR Business Partner role, employee relations, or a related human resources field, required.
Additional Experience
  • Knowledge of current employment policies, practices, and trends required.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws required.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and human resource management systems software required.
  • Training in or exposure to data and analytics software preferred.
  • Some overnight travel required.
Designations and/or Licenses
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM)-Certified Professional (CP) preferred.
