Are you passionate about cybersecurity and eager to help organizations protect themselves from cyber attacks? At Corelight, we believe that effective cybersecurity begins at the network level. Attackers may bypass various security technologies, but they cannot hide their digital footprints on the networks they infiltrate. Leveraging open-source innovations from Zeek, Suricata, and YARA, Corelight converts network activity into actionable insights. Our customers utilize these insights to accelerate incident response and proactively hunt for threats.
Role Overview
As the Lead Product Manager for Network Threat Detection, you will play a crucial role in shaping and enhancing Corelight's Network Detection and Response (NDR) capabilities. Collaborating closely with security researchers, engineers, and contributors in the open-source community, you will ensure that our solutions remain at the cutting-edge of network-based threat detection. Your primary focus will be to refine our threat detection capabilities, integrate new threat intelligence, and outline the product roadmap so that security teams can stay ahead of potential threats.
This role is perfect for candidates with extensive networking and cybersecurity experience, a deep understanding of network security analytics, and a passion for developing security products that address real-world threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, prioritize, and implement the product strategy for Corelight's threat detection initiatives, emphasizing Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and proactive solutions.
- Establish and guide data requirements necessary for supporting ML/AI detection capabilities and contribute to the Corelight Detection Schema.
- Investigate adversary tactics and techniques to identify and prioritize detection opportunities, especially focusing on applying ML/AI across various monitoring sources.
- Lead the Threat Research & Development, Data Science, and Engineering teams to implement research findings and advocate for model fidelity, performance, and transparency to enhance customer trust.
- Serve as the main technical liaison between customers, internal research teams, and engineering, while keeping an eye on industry trends and competitors to identify key differentiators.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in cybersecurity, including at least 3+ years in technical product management, security research, or detection engineering leadership roles.
- Experience in defining product strategy and managing backlogs for technical security products.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, network security principles, and intrusion detection methodologies.
- Proficient experience with detection frameworks and a proven capability to develop a detection strategy.
- Extensive experience with NDR data sources, particularly Zeek, Suricata, and/or Snort.
- Strong background in network forensics, packet analysis, and recognizing anomalous or malicious network behavior.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex technical challenges and threat intelligence into clear and prioritized product requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in Cybersecurity or related field.
- Hands-on experience in threat hunting or threat intelligence is highly desirable.
- Experience in developing or managing products related to behavioral detection models, network anomaly detection, or AI/ML-based security analytics.
- Familiarity with security operations teams (SOC), threat hunters, or forensic analysts to understand their needs and workflows is beneficial.
- Experience in contributing to open-source security projects.
