Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing core accounting duties, supporting month-end close, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Experience in the healthcare industry is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries; maintain accuracy of the general ledger.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, prepaid accounts, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Review and analyze expense reports, vendor invoices, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, schedules, and reports for internal leadership and external auditors.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with data entry and analysis.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative departments to ensure accurate financial information.
- Participate in process improvements to increase efficiency and automation.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience; healthcare experience strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency with Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) required.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner across departments.
- Prior experience in a healthcare, medical group, hospital, or multisite environment.
- Experience with financial audits, grant reporting, or revenue cycle processes.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare billing terminology.
