Starting Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 hourly

The Heavy Duty Truck Technician performs maintenance and repairs on vehicles and heavy equipment, diagnoses mechanical issues, replaces components, maintains service records, and ensures a safe, clean work environment.

Day Shift Available:

Monday - Friday

7:00am - 4:00pm

What does a Heavy Duty Truck Technician do?
  • Performs mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment, including buses, trucks, excavators, and loaders.
  • Inspects, repairs, and replaces components related to electrical, heating/air, engine cooling systems, and general wear items to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Orders necessary parts, maintains accurate service records, schedules maintenance, and keeps the work area clean and safe.
  • Performs tune-ups and other related duties as assigned.

Work Experience

To be successful as a Heavy Duty Truck Technician, you'll need:
  • Degree from a college or trade school or 2+ years of related mechanical experience; a combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Knowledge of diesel/gas engines, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and drivability/emission systems; experience with Cummins and Freightliner a plus.
  • ASE certifications in bus/truck mechanics, brakes, and suspension preferred.
  • Valid NYS driver's license required.
  • The ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 100 pounds.
