Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Enter and process vendor invoices through the Beanworks AP automation system.
- Allocate expenses to appropriate departments, programs, and grants
- Scan, upload, and file check payments in accordance with internal control procedures.
- Record monthly rent activity using established rent ledger reports.
- Allocate employee timesheets based on payroll data and program funding allocations.
- Assist with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
- Record ACH deposits and contributions received via donation platforms
- Coordinate with Development as needed to ensure proper coding and classification of donations.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting files (digital and physical) for audit readiness.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the Senior Accountant or CFO, including support with budget preparation, agency monitoring visits, desk reviews, audit support, and ad hoc financial analysis-all performed with adherence to deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, including internships or part-time roles.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and general comfort with financial systems.
- Strong communication skills are essential for this role, both internally across departments
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and resourcefulness in navigating ambiguity.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs and take initiative.

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with GL or accounting software. Training on systems will be provided.
- Exposure to nonprofit accounting principles or fund/grant allocation.
- Interest in nonprofit sector financial operations.
- This position is based onsite at our Santa Monica office; not remote or hybrid work.
- Standard office environment with frequent use of computers and other office equipment.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- May occasionally lift office supplies up to 15 pounds.
