About Us:ATTIC stands for "Alternatives to Traditional Incarceration of Citizens." We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to developing interventions that enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and the reduction of recidivism. We operate residential and other correctional programs throughout Wisconsin that provide case management, counseling and treatment groups, vocational training and high-risk client monitoring and supervision.

Position Overview:The Security Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring program compliance with program rules, funding guidelines for a Community Based Residential Facility and housing adult correctional clients.

These programs operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Based on Evidence Based Practices with correction clients and the philosophy of Trauma Informed Care, the Security Support Specialist will support and facilitate behavior change in our clients to work towards the agency'smission statement: To conceive and develop effective interventions, which will enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and a reduction of recidivism.

Potential Hours: Sunday Thursday 5:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m.

Friday Saturday 7:00 p.m. - 1:00 am

Overnights as needed

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitor client whereabouts and behavior; report any safety or security concerns in a timely manner to on duty staff/supervisor. This person will be stationed inside the facility not in the office for the majority of their shift. Hours subject to change.
  • Perform client intake paperwork and orientation; discuss policies and procedures with new client if necessary. Experience in record keeping able to use Word and other basic computer programs.
  • Maintain facility and client records including client files, daily logs, progress notes, sign in/out logs and event reports.
  • Complete and document all assigned facility checks during each shift. Continuous rounds and client engagement.
  • Assist staff with client check- ins, breathalyzers, UAs, wand checks and rounds as needed.
  • Assist in meal preparation for residents; supervise clean up and after meal food storage as needed.
  • Supervise the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, report any concerns or supplies needed.
  • Monitor and engage clients in house to ensure continuous sobriety and safety.
  • Answer telephone calls and messages as needed.
  • Assist and oversee clients with nighttime structured activities, chores and cooking.
  • Assist with shift coverage when short staffed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent. College courses in field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience and/or education relating to corrections, Community Based Residential Facilities (CBRF), Criminal Justice, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Security, Social Service, Mental Health, Behavioral Health and Law Enforcement.
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to interactions with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience enforcing rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact with staff, clients, and agents in an effective manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and able to work independently and assertive.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and sanitation.
  • Trained in administering NARCAN, training in Mental Health first aid, fire safety, standard precautions, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, and other Community Based Residential Facility trainings maintaining 15 ongoing hours per calendar year.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
