Position Summary:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide direct and indirect nursing care for patients while following established standards and practices. You will assist providers and staff in coordinating patient care and function as a primary liaison between patients and healthcare providers. This role encompasses both administrative and clinical duties, requiring a strong attention to detail, professionalism, and exceptional customer service skills.

Education/Certification:

  • Graduation from an accredited LPN program.
  • Current licensure in the state of Connecticut.
  • Maintain clinical competency required for your area of assignment, including Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.

Experience:

  • Experience with computer scheduling systems preferred, such as Meditech and Ntierprise.
  • Minimum of 1 year working in a medical facility.

Competencies:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer skills and comfortable in a fast-paced, confidential medical environment.
  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions necessary to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Understanding of nursing theory, regulations, and best practices for patient care.
  • Physical ability to operate in an office setting, including standing or sitting for prolonged periods and handling moderate weights.
  • Reliable transportation with the flexibility to float to other offices as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide general nursing care, including administering medications and treatments according to nursing standards.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
  • Observe and document patient conditions and reactions to treatments.
  • Educate patients and families about procedures, medications, and wellness maintenance.
  • Respond calmly and efficiently to emergency situations.
  • Document sample medications in patient records.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and report shortages to the Office Coordinator/Practice Manager.
  • Report issues with medical equipment to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with office surgical procedures as directed.
  • Prepare specimens and paperwork for laboratory testing as requested.
  • Handle patient treatment-related phone calls and provide necessary instructions.
  • Oversee the vaccine program per state guidelines.
  • Maintain organized and clean work areas.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management.
