About the Role:

The Lead Psychiatry BH position at Unity at DC Jail is a pivotal role focused on delivering high-quality mental health care to individuals in a correctional setting. This position requires a compassionate leader who can develop and implement effective treatment plans while overseeing a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals. The primary goal is to enhance the mental well-being of patients through evidence-based practices and therapeutic interventions. Additionally, the Lead Psychiatry BH will be responsible for ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, fostering a safe and supportive environment for both staff and patients. Ultimately, this role aims to reduce recidivism and improve the overall mental health outcomes for individuals within the justice system.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with a specialization in Psychiatry.
  • Current and valid medical license to practice psychiatry in the state of Washington, D.C.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Experience working in correctional facilities or with underserved populations.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and mental health counselors in providing comprehensive psychiatric care.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patients to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with correctional staff and other healthcare providers to coordinate care and address any emerging mental health issues.
  • Provide training and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
