Director of Data and Business Intelligence
Salary: $180K - $200K base
Full-Time | Hands-On Leadership Role
About the Organization
We are a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering growth through meaningful service, community, and care. Our team merges professional excellence with a shared mission to create a lasting impact.
About the Opportunity
Join us as a mission-driven Director of Data and Business Intelligence who has a passion for transforming complex data into strategic insights, compelling narratives, and actionable change. This is a rare chance to establish a cutting-edge analytics practice from the ground up—designing frameworks, defining KPIs, and nurturing a data-centric culture within a dynamic organization focused on impactful work.
You'll be both an architect and a storyteller This role requires someone who is detail-oriented in data governance and systems, but also capable of stepping back to help senior leaders understand the broader picture. This is a builder's role for individuals who thrive on hands-on work while also influencing high-level leadership decisions.
What You'll Do
- Define the Foundations (Data Governance & Strategy)
- Establish organization-wide data standards, definitions, and governance practices to ensure consistency and clarity across all teams.
- Collaborate with leadership to align metrics with strategic priorities, ensuring data reflects the organization's health, performance, and impact.
- Build the Engine (Data Ingestion, ETL & Modeling)
- Design and manage scalable data pipelines to transform raw information into clean, structured datasets for analysis.
- Work alongside technology teams to enhance data architecture, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and integrity.
- Develop forecasting and statistical models that highlight key business drivers.
- Tell the Story (Insights, Dashboards & Influence)
- Create and maintain advanced dashboards and visualizations to surface insights in real time.
- Translate data into engaging narratives for executives, clarifying what’s happening, why it matters, and where to focus next.
- Present insights directly to senior leadership, steering strategic direction and resource allocation.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data strategy—preferably in dynamic, multi-functional environments.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing or scaling a data function from the ground up.
- Proficiency with SQL, ETL tools, and contemporary data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, or Looker).
- A solid understanding of data governance, pipeline development, and transformation processes.
- Ability to convert data into actionable insights, comfortable presenting complex findings to executive audiences.
- Hands-on experience with CRM systems, marketing analytics, and automation platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Segment, etc.).
- A balance of strategic and tactical skills—you love conceptual thinking but also enjoy getting into the data.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
Bonus Points if you:
- Have experience in mission-driven, nonprofit, or faith-based organizations.
- Understand audience segmentation or donor engagement analytics.
- Possess a working knowledge of Python, R, or similar scripting tools.
The Ideal Fit:
You are a purple unicorn—a technical problem-solver adept at every phase of the data journey. You define data, wrangle it into a usable format, extract insights, and craft narratives that inspire change.
You are passionate about meaningful work and strive to utilize your skills for a greater cause. You thrive in environments that promote initiative, creativity, and clarity amidst ambiguity. The challenge of building something impactful from the ground up excites you.
Benefits
- Competitive salary ($180K - $200K DOE).
- Annual performance bonus (based on organizational performance).
- 75% employer-paid health and wellness coverage.
- 403(b) retirement plan with 7% employer match.
- Generous PTO policies.
- Two annual company rest weeks (around July 4 and between Christmas and New Year’s).
- $2,500 annually for professional development.
- $2,000 annually for professional certifications.
- $5,250 annually for tuition reimbursement.
- $1,500 grant for home office setup, to be utilized within the first year.
