The City of Boynton Beach is seeking a Cashier/Account Clerk to perform a variety of cashier and account clerk duties for the Financial Services Department. The position processes financial transactions, maintains accurate records, and handles customer inquiries.
Responsibilities- Receives and processes utility bill payments from the public.
- Receives, reconciles, and posts money to the General Ledger through cash receipt posting.
- Corresponds with customers to explain utility bill accounts, late fees, extra charges, and past?due amounts.
- Performs data entry work to input cash receipts, posts adjustments, assigns codes and account numbers, and batches, sorts, and matches financial records.
- Contacts vendors, customers, banks, and city departments to perform assigned duties.
- Processes payments, updates inspection reports, and balances accounts for fire inspections.
- Processes returned checks, performs follow?up collections work, and compiles monthly reports.
- Records program and financial data for various city departments on activity reports through cash receipt posting.
- Sorts checks and forms in preparation for distribution to city departments and vendors.
- Establishes and maintains various files and records for storage and dispositions.
- Posts incoming drop box and mail payments, and all payments with relation to Accounts Receivable invoices sent to vendors.
- Prepares daily deposits and reviews cash receipts.
- Performs various clerical duties including typing checks, preparing for mailing, copying, and faxing documents.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of previous experience involving clerical and customer service work.
- Must possess a valid Florida drivers license within fourteen (14) days of hire.
- Prior work experience using Superion, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Cashiering and/or accounting experience.
