SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the Fine Arts Coordinator is to coordinate and facilitate the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, integration, and promotion of the Arts programming across fine, visual, and performing arts content and grade levels at South High School. The Coordinator will work closely with Pueblo Academy of Arts, and potentially other feeder schools to grow the Arts program at South High School. The Coordinator will support teachers in developing innovative instructional practices that foster creativity and critical thinking, preparing students for careers that incorporate fine or performing arts. The role includes program development, teacher training, and the promotion of fine and performing arts programs that engage students in interdisciplinary projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Art, Dance, Music, or related field
  • Three (3) years of successful experience in arts education or administration
  • Valid Colorado Driver License.
  • Employee must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and must be cleared by the Office of Human Resources.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing using proper grammar and vocabulary.

PREFERRED:
  • Colorado Teacher License with Endorsement in Fine Arts
  • Master's Degree in education, arts administration, or a related field

  • In-depth understanding of state standards, curriculum, and assessment programs related to the arts.
  • Knowledge of inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary instruction.

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision to create robust fine arts programming at South High School. This will include all fine and performing arts programs, which may include visual arts, theater, music, and dance
  • Work with Fine Arts Specialist to evaluate and recommend new instructional programs, technologies, materials, and equipment
  • Manage the school's fine arts budget, including tracking expenditures, preparing financial reports, and allocating resources for supplies, equipment, and special events
  • Prepare and manage contracts for guest artists, consultants, and school facility rentals
  • Coordinate departmental and cross-departmental schedules, meetings, and curriculum planning sessions
  • Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, and supervision of fine arts faculty and staff
  • Organize and execute all school arts events, including concerts, theatrical productions, art shows, and festivals
  • Coordinate public communications and promotional materials with the District's Director of Communications to build awareness and showcase student and school accomplishments
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the fine arts department, school administration, students, and parents
  • Cultivate partnerships with local, state, and national arts organizations to create enriched opportunities for students
  • Work with staff and students on a daily basis

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee will work primarily in a school/office environment with both natural and fluorescent lighting. The noise level is usually quiet in an office environment but can be noisy at times. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
