About the role

Manages all aspects of facility operations, equipment and services. Oversees multi-trades workforce engaged in operations, maintenance, security, and housekeeping duties. Directly participates in overall facility management.

What You'll Do Here
  • Assign, direct and oversee the work of multiple trades' projects including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boiler, machine, and sheet metal.
  • Work closely with the executive management on new construction projects.
  • Respond to emergency calls associated with malfunctioning equipment or building systems.
  • As required, call in and coordinate the work of other Facilities Associates.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor facility improvement and maintenance projects, develop scope of work, confer with departments and consultants; prepare construction plans and documents, budget reports, and authorization-related recommendations.
  • Provides technical leadership for the physical plant activities and programs, to include maintenance and construction, facilities management, security, custodial services, and landscaping.
  • Develops and establishes policies and objectives to ensure efficient operation of individual operating units.
  • Oversee the supervision of personnel, training and issue resolution, evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Responsible for assessment of subcontractors and major asset purchases to ensure quality and regulatory compliance. Provide recommendations to management.
  • Oversees the activities of contract personnel, monitors and inspects work to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards.
  • Develop building qualifications and ensure all renovation and new construction are properly documented to meet GLP building requirements.
  • Evaluates preventive maintenance programs, modifies programs to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of physical security, safety, and disaster recovery programs, procedures, and operations for the facility.
  • Respond to emergency calls associated with malfunctioning equipment or building systems.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • High school or General Education Degree (GED) and journey-level experience in one or more skilled trades, including experience in heating and air-conditioning systems, mechanical, and electrical systems in a research or industrial environment. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

  • Previous supervisory experience in the area of facilities management and construction processes is desired.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • The language skills required include, but are not limited to: the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, software manuals, study documents, and procedure manuals; the ability to write routine reports and correspondence: the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • The math skills required include, but are not limited to: a demonstrated knowledge and application of math, algebra, and geometry skills as required and related to the construction and equipment process.
  • The reasoning abilities required include, but are not limited to: the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables; the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; and the ability to demonstrate attention to detail. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as high temperature and humidity, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Light to moderate physical effort. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Construction and Equipment Management experience preferred.
What We Offer

The pay range estimated for this position is $75,510 to $105,714 per year. Please note that hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
