Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the chance to work in many broader domains. As an Engineering Manager, you'll predominantly offer creative solutions to organizational design. You'll also serve as a mentor for a team of engineers, overseeing performance management, growth opportunities, and accountability.

As the Sr. Manager, Software Engineer for Deploy, your mission is to make delivering games and services to players seamless for developers. To do this you'll need to understand when and how to leverage cloud infrastructure and automation to turn chronically underserved tools and processes into first class offerings that unlock the full potential of your fellow creatives. You'll work with Production, Engineering, QA, and Operations from every player-facing team at Riot to make shipping games intuitive and worry-free. You'll be an advocate for the unsung glue teams, the folks that often make the biggest impact by nailing the little details.
Responsibilities:
  • Own the product vision; you understand your customers and their specific needs, industry trends and changes, and where to align your roadmap with other central efforts
  • Oversee engineering leadership; you own resource and performance management, team health, and building healthy relationships with other engineering teams at Riot to foster cross-team collaboration
  • Drive positive outcomes for customers; customers see your team as vital to their success. This includes proactive communication with customers and stakeholders, prioritizing value over idealism, and fostering a culture of accountability
  • You ensure that your team always understands the "why" and is able to connect their work back to DevCon and Riot's mission. DevCon often pushes into uncharted territory, you provide the clarity to help the team navigate uncertainty
Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience as a Senior Software Engineer or higher
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • 4+ years of management experience
  • Experience serving in a product ownership role
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and applications
Desired Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS
  • Experience shipping games
  • Experience with mobile development
  • Experience with console development
  • Entrepreneurial experience
For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes your fellow Rioters, who are the customers of your work. Being a dedicated fan of games is not necessary for this position
