Systems Administrator

Systems Administrator Description/Job Summary The Systems Administrator performs technical work in the design, acquisition, installation, integration, operation, and maintenance of the College's integrated enterprise infrastructure. This position ensures the stability of the College's enterprise infrastructure with responsibility for the configuration, maintenance, and availability of the systems used by students, faculty and staff; administration of the enterprise infrastructure monitoring application; and proactive review of operational logs to identify and resolve service issues. The Systems Administrator is a technical point of escalation for systems issues and provides Tier 3 support. The ideal candidate will leverage a collaborative approach, anticipate needs, and be able to communicate and work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a diverse and talented institution. Responsibilities/Duties Installs, integrates, operates, and maintains hardware and software; Tests, certifies, troubleshoots, and resolves systems problems; Assists in the integration and management of connectivity with other networks, platforms, and protocols; Manages configuration and change control of systems; Ensures availability of all managed systems, databases, and applications; Performs server, application and data backups and ensure recoverability of systems;  Coordinates with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to provide stable operation of technology systems used by the College community; As required, provides support during scheduled downtime, platform outages and emergencies; Maintains network and system security; Analyzes, isolates, and troubleshoots issues; Monitors systems to ensure security and availability to specific users; Implement security and configuration policies using mobile device management (MDM) and group policy tools Deploy operating system and application patches to managed endpoints Designs, configures, and administers both on-premises and cloud-based systems; Evaluates and modify system's performance; Maintains integrity and security of the managed systems; Recommend and provide specifications for purchase of IT solutions and services; Analyze and resolve user and system issues in a timely and accurate manner; Resolve assigned tickets in IT service management tool; Create and maintain documentation related to system configurations and standard operating procedures; Implement standards and procedures for network resource access, problem reporting and troubleshooting; Support and contribute to internal project meetings; Communicate system trends, issues and outages to management, co-workers and customers; Ensure design of system allows all components to work properly together; Perform related duties as assigned The above statements are intended only to describe the general nature of the job and should not be construed as an all-inclusive list of position responsibilities.
