Position Summary
The Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible for assisting with billing functions in the hospital along with education, training, and maintaining processes in Revenue Cycle. They must provide assistance and training to all support services and vendors who provide services to Shore Medical Center.


Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Create clear and detailed training material for all new staff.

• Maintain all educational materials for registration, admissions, billing, and insurance verification staff.

• Create and maintain training competencies for the Patient Financial Services and Access Management department.

• Review competencies with staff to ensure all training and education and support is provided.

• Provide training and education with the following systems: Cerner, AS400, Teletracking, Passport, Finthrive, Flywire, and all other programs used in the Revenue Cycle.

• Coordinate training and education programs with the department management.

• Create training schedules and materials for all new hires based upon their skill sets.

• Provide updates and changes to staff via multiple avenues of communication. (I.e., memos, email, etc.)

• Maintain Department Policy and Procedures with regards to Registration/Scheduling/Billing

• Provide support to department management and Information Technology Department when testing or redesigning systems.

• Work closely with all registration areas within the hospital for any new registration changes or updates (i.e., Maternal Fetal Medicine, Rehab, Wound Care, Cancer Center, Endo).

• Collaborate with Centralized Scheduling and OR scheduling to review their training material.

• Research claims that may have been rejected for incorrect or missing information.

• Monitor the patient combines listing. Identify ways to stop duplicate encounters or medical record numbers from being created.

• Assist with all billing functions.


Minimum Requirements

• High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent work experience

• 2-4 years' experience

• Cerner Registration experience

• AS400 Accounts Receivable experience

• Ability to decision making, multi-tasking, organizing and priority setting with a high degree of accuracy


Preferred Requirements

• Associate's Degree
