Electrical Engineering Internship or Co-Op (Summer 2026)The Electrical Engineer Co-op or Intern will work alongside other Electrical Engineers to prepare drawings, calculations, and other deliverables for our clients design projects. The position will also require interface with team members in our other engineering disciplines to provide cohesive engineering packages to our clients.ResponsibilitiesComplete calculations of limited complexity, with supervision as needed; may include lighting distribution, conduit/cable tray fills, voltage drop, feeder sizing, etc.Develop and maintain Electrical Single Line Diagrams, Schematic/Interconnection Diagrams, Conduit/Cable Schedules, Plans for Lighting, Grounding, Power, Controls, Raceway, etc.Support the development of Power System Study models for short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination and arc flash calculations effortsAssist experienced Electrical Engineers with their activities as requestedQualificationsCurrently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or universityEffective communication skills in order to convey ideas is a must Ability to work within diverse teams assembled from Nexus, clients, and othersProficient in Microsoft Office Excel and WordSeeks feedback to improve performanceExperience with AutoCAD or other drafting software preferredFamiliarity with Power System Modeling software (ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower) is desirablePotential ExperiencesGain an understanding of the business and engineering work flow in a consulting firmObserve and learn the application of electrical distribution concepts and systems such as protective schemes, device coordination, emergency power, motor control, hazardous area installation methods, etc.Expand capabilities with drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Plant 3D, Revit, Inventor, Navisworks, or othersExposure to and application of industry codes and standards related to the electrical disciplineIntroduction to utility interface voltages and client medium and low voltage distribution systemsCompetitive BenefitsLearn more about our competitive benefits in detail.Why Nexus?Nexus Engineering Group, a distinguished independent full-service engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm, provides comprehensive support to clients from concept through startup.
