Position Overview SALARY: A five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94LOCATION: Lynnwood WashingtonDESCRIPTION: Edmonds College Allied Health (AHE) department invites applications for Associate Faculty, Medical Assistant. The AHE department offers a variety of degrees and certificates that are listed on the department web page at: Associate faculty will be responsible for providing leadership in a new Medical Assistant certificate program and should be able to teach a variety of classroom and skills lab courses in the areas of clinical procedures, diagnostic procedures, and medical assistant administrative functions. Courses will be delivered in multiple modalities including online, hybrid and face to face. Associate AHE faculty members are responsible for the following: teaching and providing leadership to students in an online classroom environment; developing and revising curriculum; preparing teaching materials and hands-on exercises where required, preparing teaching materials, developing and evaluating student work to course and program learning outcomes; assigning grades and maintaining required records, participating in department meetings and professional development training.Requirements for associate faculty in the AHE Department are listed below. This position will be open on an ongoing basis.CORE COMPETENCIESExpertise in the fieldDemonstrate subject matter expertise, technological competency, and utilization of evidence-based teaching practices that actively engage all students in the learning process regardless of class modality.Cultural CompetencyDemonstrated ability to create a learning environment that fosters student belonging and engagement by employing an inclusive and equitable curriculum that promotes cross-cultural connection and commitment to reflection, training, and collaboration to improve teaching.Commitment to Equitable Access and Educational SuccessDemonstrated experience providing equitable access and educational success for all students; particularly underserved populations, those who are low income, and students of color.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Educational qualifications related to specific discipline (i.e. AA degree, Bachelor's degree).Current State of Washington MA-C certification.One year of recent full-time work experience. Teaching or training experience equivalent to one college quarter. Excellent verbal, listening, problem-solving, critical thinking and writing skills.Good technology skills and familiarity with the Internet and communicating online.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Teaching experience at a community college or university.Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse ages, backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities, including adult learners.Demonstrated experience developing curriculum and learning assessment tools. Experience working with Canvas or other online learning management systems.PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in a classroom which requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a personal computer in the work environment.COMPENSATION:The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.Criminal background checkAll new positions are contingent upon funding.At this time, Edmonds College does not sponsor H1-B Visas.Complete, sign, and submit
