SUMMARY Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Director of Business Development with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are vital, with attention to detail equally important. The Director of Business Development will partner with business unit market leaders in developing and supporting positioning strategies with existing and potential customers to win project work, as well as leading teams.RESPONSIBILITIESLead the positioning activities of the business development teamManage strategic business planningDevelop strategic positioning plan for company and project pursuitsManage creation and production of internal and external communications, marketing/branding/advertising materials and presentationsCoordinate prequalification efforts with targeted customers and partnersInitiate customer feedback on proposals and presentationsManage interface between business development, pre-construction, and marketingProvide insight into market sector leadersParticipate in the Business Development Advancement Team and share corporate direction and development tactics with the development teamEstablish and nurture strategic business partnerships and customer relationshipsDevelop and maintain relationships with potential partners including, but not limited to community leaders, utilities, equipment manufacturers, engineering firmsIdentify new market sectors and potential future customersBecome familiar with customer’s project estimates to facilitate discussion with customerManage the development team Provide work direction, training, and performance reviews to team membersSet and manage department budget Use the appropriate level of forethought and planning in decision making to assure project successQUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, or Engineering, or a related field Minimum of 10 years prior industry-related business development experienceStrong management skillsProven customer relationship building skills, with developed local/regional business knowledgeProven knowledge and execution of successful marketing strategiesDetail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasksPossess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesMicrosoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate levelProven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skillsAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies Current driver’s licenseTravel of up to 30% of time may be necessary to fulfill the objectives of the positionA few benefits offered include: (for Non-Craft & Non-Union Craft working 25+ hours / week)Medical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverage Dental plan 401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson match Paid time off, holidays, and other paid leaves Employer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insurance No-Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work-life resourcesTuition reimbursement Adoption Assistance Gym Membership Discount Program The base pay range for this role is $200,900 MIN - $301,400 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, . – 12.5%).Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
