Senior Electrical Engineer

GFT is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building and Places Team that specializes in design of water and wastewater projects. This role follows a hybrid work model at either of our New York, NY, Mechanicsburg, PA, Baltimore, MD, Philadelphia, PA, Fairfax, VA, East Brunswick, NJ or Washington, DC offices.At GFT, the electrical team is dedicated to creating efficient, innovative solutions for . What you’ll be challenged to do:Your day to day responsibilities will include managing electrical design, inspection, condition assessment projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities nationally.Lead/Manage the preparation of electrical design criteria documents, electrical design directive drawings, electrical system calculations, electrical system technical analyses, electrical system contract design drawings, detailed specifications and performance based specifications for electrical power distribution and related systems. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Performing site survey of existing system conditions for interface of new designs with existing electrical and control systems.Design of electrical systems including: low/medium voltage power distribution, standby/emergency generation, interior/exterior lighting for buildings and fire alarm systemsConstruction assistance including; electrical shop drawing review, contractor relations, and site surveysSupervise and mentor electrical staff comprised of engineers and designersManage and regularly report on project performance, accruals and utilizationLead and participate in meetings clients utility service representatives and project teams.Deliver projects on time and within client budgetsDeliver projects in compliance with client and company quality control procedures and engineering guidelinesPreparation of project specificationsDaily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplinesCoordination and verification of as-built drawingsPerform quality work that promotes client retentionResponsible for the development of reports and design documents, including electrical floor plans, equipment schematic diagrams, equipment block diagrams, electrical load calculations, short circuit studies, protective device coordination studies, and arc flash What you will bring to our firm: Minimum Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or Architectural Engineering with Electrical focus8+ plus years of progressive experience in the engineering and design of electrical systems for water and wastewater projectsLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington DC or Virginia is preferred or the ability to obtain the PE licenses within one year of employmentFirm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards such as NFPA 820 and energy codesExperienced with facility surveys, reports, feasibility studies, design, specifications, cost estimating, and construction activity support.Capable of driving the successful completion of projects.Experience with alternative project delivery is a plusThe ability to work independently or in a team environment effectivelyThe ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environmentExperience using Computer Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD) is a plusBuilding Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plusElectrical power design experience is required Experience in Power Studies, such as Short Circuit Study, Coordination Study, and Arc Flash Analysis is preferredProficiency using SKM Power Tools Software is preferredWhat we prefer you bring: Project management and leadership skills, capable of driving the successful completion of projects is a plus.Experience with alternative project delivery is a plusThe ability to work independently or in a team environment effectivelyThe ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environmentExperience using Computer Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD) is a plusBuilding Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plusElectrical power design experience is required Experience in Power Studies, such as Short Circuit Study, Coordination Study, and Arc Flash Analysis is preferredProficiency using SKM Power Tools Software is preferredSecurity and communication design experience is preferredCompensation:The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $160,000.
