Description Role Summary Do you have trade skills like welding, pipe-fitting, climbing high towers, mechanical experience, tower installation/maintenance gifts? Do you wonder if you might be needed in the world of missions? We do need you at our global transmitter sites like Guam, the Caribbean or Africa. Come and help out, ensuring that the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ reaches those who might otherwise have no hope. Please note: This position is a supported/sponsored missionary role (not a direct hire opportunity), so the approved candidate would need to develop a team of partners to provide financially for their full salary and benefits. Our Global Technical team is looking for a missionary to serve as a Tower Maintenance Technician to properly maintain antenna systems and other equipment needed to operate a radio broadcast transmitting site. Core Competencies: Commitment to Jesus Christ evidenced by a personal relationship Excitement about being involved in full-time missions and willingness to develop a team of prayer and financial partners Strong people skills; ability to develop and lead teams effectively Ability to manage priorities and workflow with attention to detail Cultural sensitivity and a team spirit Ability to work in hot, humid conditions and comfortable with heights Responsibilities: Monitor condition of antenna and related systems for deterioration or other threats Instruct tower workers in safety and proper execution of the job Inspect all safety equipment and supplies/tools for each tower job Maintain inventory and assist with re-supply Work irregular hours when repairs are needed or night shifts Desirable Qualifications: Post-secondary degree in engineering. Associate’s accepted, Bachelor’s preferred Knowledge of tower structures, support systems, standard rigging practices and metal structure maintenance Practical experience or knowledge in several of these areas: air conditioning, mechanical, auto/diesel, electrical, painting, roofing, and related areas
