Job DescriptionServe as a District-Level resource for Customs ComplianceProactively communicate and closely coordinate with Compliance Supervisor, DCM, branch management, and RCMKeeps informed of current and proposed laws, regulations, directives, rules, and policies applicable to the relevant District governing Trade Compliance at Expeditors and regarding the industry in general. Maintain knowledge about Expeditors’ operating systems, including (but not limited to) GCI, CFIT, EDMS, and ETMS and how those systems support the Company’s ongoing Compliance goals and objectives.Communicate regularly with Compliance Supervisor, DCM and branch management to ensure consistent and accurate messaging, any material changes, and implementation of Trade Compliance goals and objectiveResponsibilities and DutiesComplianceAssist in the enforcement of Expeditors’ Brokerage Operational Process Standards, policies and procedures.Ensure compliance with 19 CFR relating to import shipmentsEnsure compliance with Denied Party Screening, sanctions and embargoes Internal Reviews and MonitoringConduct daily reviews via IDMA/EDMA (Import/Export Daily Monitoring Applications) in accordance with Expeditors’ review guidelinesDerive training topics from IDMA/EDMA results and assist with development of classes for brokerage/export departmentsMonitor DG Checklist, IDMA/EDMA, ADD CVD Reimbursement/361, compliance reports – Daily, Weekly, monthly etc. InformationRead daily publications of Broker Power’s International Trade Today, Administrative Messages, and local customs publications (e.g. Pipelines, Public Bulletins, etc.). Visit customs and PGA websites on a regular basis. Ensure familiarity with Customs’ Informed Compliance Publications.Attend monthly Compliance Conference Calls hosted by CHQAttend monthly DG calls hosted by CHQ.Attend monthly TSA/CCSF calls hosted by CHQ. TrainingComplete all mandatory training requirements each year.Maintain Dangerous Goods certifications.Assist operation personnel with compliance-related questions and issues. Sales/MarketingOther tasks and duties as deemed appropriate by management. Physical DemandsUse of standard office equipment - computer with keyboard and mouse, phone, copy/scan machine, etc.Functions performed primarily while seated/standing at desk QualificationsHigh School Degree or equivalent requiredPassed background checkMust be 18 years of age or olderGood computer skills (Word, Excel, and familiarity with PowerPoint)Must be legally authorized to work in the United StatesMust not require future sponsorship for employment VisaMust have the ability to work overtime in support of department needsFluent in English, both written and verbalAbility to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organizedDemonstrated ability to be pro-active in thought and actionStrong organization skillsAnalytical with strong attention to detailEffective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive resultsAbility to work independently and in a collaborative team environmentWilling to pitch in and help on last minute projects or assist team membersExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skillsHas a demonstrated strong work ethic, and reliabilityComfortable working in a professional business environmentMust be able to commute to all BOS buildings & to customers as needed Desired Qualifications :A passion for Compliance and doing the right thing.A minimum of two (2) years at the Company (not required)Demonstrated understanding of applicable Trade Compliance laws and regulationsStrong familiarity with, and continued pursuit of proficiency in Expeditors’ operating systems, including GCI, CFIT, EDMS, ETMS, and, where applicable, third-party systems used to conduct Expeditors’ transactions.DG Certification (U.S. Imports)U.S. Customs Broker License (Preferred)IATA/FIATA Cargo Certification (Preferred)College/University or equivalent business qualifications (Preferred)Expeditors Core Competencies Exceptional Customer Service:Exceeds customer expectations by anticipating, understanding, and meeting needs.
