Division Director, Hospital Medicine-149887 Description Position Title: Division Director  Department : Department of Pediatrics  Division: Division of Hospital Medicine  Supervisor’s Title:  Vice Chair, Clinical Affairs & Education  Titles Supervised: Faculty, Staff Physicians, Fellows, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), Research and Administrative Staff  Position Overview Cincinnati Children’s seeks a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as the next director for the Division of Hospital Medicine.  The Division of Hospital Medicine is widely recognized for excellence in clinical care, research, education, and systems improvement, as well as its focus on health equity. The director will:  Set an innovative course for the long-term growth and fiscal vitality of the division, leading, and enabling continued development of transformational clinical and research programs, Recruit and retain exceptional and diverse faculty, Identify emerging and new areas of emphasis and promise,  Enable world-class clinical and educational programming  Prioritize mentorship and develop/refine the academic skills of existing faculty and clinical staff to fulfill the division’s mission and responsibilities, including promoting our culture of collaboration and patient-centered care. The Division of Hospital Medicine includes one of the largest groups of pediatric hospital medicine researchers in the country with primary research faculty members partnering with clinical faculty to publish approximately 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts and receive > $2,000,000 in extramural grant funding in the most recent fiscal year. Areas of emphasis include health equity, transitions of care, high value care, children with medical complexity, patient and family engagement, and precision medication dosing. The division also has a proven track record of its faculty receiving K-award or equivalent career-development funding. Individualized career development is provided through mentoring within the Division of Hospital Medicine and across the institution. Opportunities for collaboration are fostered through weekly divisional research meetings and other collaborative research groups throughout the Department of Pediatrics and with the University of Cincinnati. The division has a robust research infrastructure that includes 10 clinical research coordinators and established collaborations with faculty in the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology. Division faculty also serve in editorial leadership roles in many of the leading journals in the field, including the Journal of Hospital Medicine, Hospital Pediatrics, and Pediatrics.  The division, which provides care through the Hospital Medicine Services at 2 campuses, has developed innovative models of care, including consultation and co-management for surgical inpatients through the Hospital Medicine Surgical Service and for adults through the Hospital Medicine Adult Care Service, as well as a clinical service that cares for children with high medical complexity. The division has a strong partnership with the Division of General and Community Pediatrics and its outpatient Complex Care Center as well as the many other subspecialty divisions involved in the care of these children. The division is also a leader in systems improvement and educational scholarship. Division education innovations include leading development of a national research curriculum for all pediatric hospital medicine fellowships, creation of innovative platforms for systems orientation, clinical content, education, and research skill development. The division’s renowned fellowship programs include a 3-year Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship with its inaugural cohort in 2011 and a Clinical Informatics Fellowship. The pediatric hospital medicine fellowship program was among the first such programs to receive ACGME accreditation. The institution also received > $300 million in extramural research funding.  Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE M.D., or D.O., with board certification in Pediatrics or, Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferred, additional training and/or advanced degree (MPH, Ph.D., etc.) is a plus  Ability to obtain State of Ohio Medical Board licensure  Rank of Associate Professor or Professor with eligibility for appointment as affiliated faculty with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine  Strong record of accomplishment in leadership, management, and financial budgeting experience, and skills in resource management, planning, and facilitation.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain trust with all stakeholders, including trainees  Demonstration of sustained excellence in research productivity, clinical care, and/or mentorship and development of trainees and junior faculty. Expertise in clinical operations and/or attainment of extramural research funding are expected.
