This position will report to the Senior Supervisor of Financial Aid under the Office of Enrollment Management.This is a limited-term contract running through Spring 7.RESPONSIBILITIESMaintaining a strong working knowledge of federal, state, and University financial aid regulations, policies, and proceduresProviding telephone, email correspondence, in-person, and virtual advising to students/families regarding financial aidProviding administrative support to the campus scholarship program, and financial aid support to the study abroad programWorking closely with admission counselors at admission events, presentations, campus visits, and individual appointmentsCollaborating with the Registrar and Finance officesCOMPETENCIESDedication to excellent customer service and desire to help students succeedAbility to communicate in an effective and professional manner with detailed and sensitive informationCapacity to thrive in a fast-paced environmentHigh degree of accountability and attention to detailPresentation, interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking skills are essential Proficiency in student information systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel are preferredMINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneQUALIFICATIONSPrior higher education financial aid administration is preferredExcellent writing, oral, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills are requiredExperience with Financial Aid databases is preferred.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: For consideration, a cover letter and resume should be submitted at the time of application.BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCESThis position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa.
