Mission Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an experienced individual for the position of Asphalt Paver Screed Operator based out of our Savannah, GA location. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. Asphalt Paver Screed Operator's primary function is to adjust the screed height on the paving machine to ensure proper depth, grade and finish. The Asphalt Paver Screed Operator is also responsible for ensuring the consistency of the asphalt mat and the overall ride quality of the finished pavement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This includes, but is not limited to the following: Needs to have the ability to correctly set up paver screed, lay a uniform thickness.An accurate and working knowledge of the paver screed (ex. correct speed, check on material coming out of truck, straight lines)The ability to take a leadership role on the crewThe willingness and ability to keep paver and screed maintained and cleanThe willingness to work nights and weekendsThe ability to operate equipment in a safe and consistent mannerQualifications, Education, and Competencies Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals.
