Overview We are seeking a meticulous LiDAR Technician to join our Geospatial team. In this role, you will focus on classifying and cleaning LiDAR point clouds to accurately identify ground points, ensuring high-quality datasets for mapping and analysis. Responsibilities Classify ground points from raw airborne and mobile LiDAR datasetsRemove noise and artifacts from LiDAR point clouds to create clean, accurate terrain modelsPerform quality assurance to verify ground classification meets project standardsCollaborate with analysts and project leads to ensure smooth data workflowsMaintain organized data files and documentation for processed datasetsAssist in troubleshooting and refining classification workflowsApply software tools and scripts to automate repetitive tasks Qualifications Minimum Requirements:1+ years of experience working with LiDAR data, preferably in ground point classificationFamiliarity with LiDAR processing and classification software (., TerraScan, LAStools, RiProcess)Strong attention to detail and focus on data qualityAbility to work independently and follow precise technical workflowsEffective written and verbal communication skillsExperience/Skills Preferred (in addition to requirements):Experience with ESRI, CAD, or vector-based softwareKnowledge of LiDAR point cloud editing, filtering, and terrain modelingBasic scripting knowledge (Python, Visual Basic, or similar)Understanding of airborne and mobile LiDAR sensor characteristicEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.NV5 offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, PTO, 401(k) and professional development/advancement opportunities.
