Job SummaryThe Supervisor for Instructional Technology, Innovation, and Information Literacy is a member of the Department of Information Technology. The position provides leadership and direction for 21st-century learning through instructional technology integration, learner access and use of written and digital information, and innovative practices and research. The Supervisor collaborates with the Department of School Performance to integrate technology and innovation into the WJCC curriculum. The Supervisor develops and leads professional development for faculty and staff to support the integration and consistent use of technology and innovation in the classroom. The Library Media Specialists (LMS) and Computer Resource Teachers (CRTs) work collaboratively with this position. The Instructional Technology Resource Teachers (ITRTs) directly report to this position.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResearches and maintains current knowledge of innovative and future trends in PK-12 instructional practice.Coordinates and initiates implementation and support of all technology integration practices across the school division.Leads the development and expansion of all K-12 online learning programs through Desire2Learn, Compass Learning, Canvas, Virtual Virginia, and other identified platforms.Provides professional development to expand the capacity of the faculty and staff to support innovation and instructional technology integration.Collaborates with the Departments of Technology and School Performance and principals to identify materials, equipment, and resources that support innovation, instructional technology, and information literacy.Directly oversees a cost center and budget development process that identifies materials, equipment, and resources that support innovation, instructional technology and information literacy and anticipates projected needs and growth.Openly collaborates with Curriculum Coordinators to ensure that current and innovative instructional technology methodology and best practices are integrated, embedded, and supported across the K-12 curriculum.Provides leadership for the curriculum writing process for LMS and CRT positions that promotes digital literacy and technology skills.Provides professional development to LMS and CRT positions to support instructional practice and methodology for 21stcentury learning skills, digital literacy and technology skills.Directly oversees the development, evaluation and training of the ITRTs.Coordinates the duties and work of the LMS, CRT, and ITRT positions through regular and consistent collaboration to ensure that instructional technology, innovation, and information literacy support services and programming are efficiently integrated and supported.Serves as the liaison to internal and external teams and organizations, such as curriculum writing teams, WHRO, and the Williamsburg Regional Library.Collects, monitors, and regularly reports on key performance data for instructional technology resources to anticipate professional development, training, and support requirements for these systems among faculty, staff, and students.Assists Principals with professional development and evaluation of Library Media Specialists (LMS) and Computer Resource Teachers (CRT).Models the WJCC Strategic Plan Values: Individualism, Integrity, Innovation, Accountability and Collaboration.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)Knowledge of current research and developments in K-12 instructional technology, innovation, future trends, and information literacy.Expertise in integrating and supporting instructional technology and leading high-quality professional development desired.Expertise in designing and leading courses in a virtual environment.Minimum of Master’s Degree required. Additional graduate coursework in school law and evaluation of instruction required if not part of Master’s degree. Coursework in Educational Technology or related area preferred.Eligibility for Local Administration and Supervision PK-12 endorsement required within first 12 months of employment.Three or more years of experience in a school-based setting required.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with division leadership, employees, families, students, employees and community members.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Supervision ExercisedDirectly supervises and evaluates the Instructional Technology Resource Teachers (ITRTs).Supervision ReceivedPerforms duties under the supervision of the Senior Director of Information Technology.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsDuties are normally performed in an office environment. Frequent contact with staff. Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
