Job SummaryThe Supervisor for Communications and Engagement provides leadership and direction for communications and engagement initiatives to enhance relationships with division stakeholders and communicate the Division’s goals and accomplishments. The Supervisor collaborates across departments, buildings, and external organizations to promote WJCC Schools and achieve its goals. The Supervisor executes projects under the leadership of the Strategic Communications Officer.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCreates and oversees end-to-end processes and system development, in partnership with all team members.Ensures the division’s communication protocols are up-to-date and used properly and effectively.Oversees, promotes, assesses, and reports on the WJCC Schools volunteer and partnership programs.Supports the implementation of communications plans with community-focused strategies that deepen relationships with key stakeholders, strengthen community participation in programs and initiatives, and promote the WJCC Schools brand.Assists with planning, development, management, evaluation, and modification of short- and long-term objectives, programs, and projects to accomplish department and division goals.Manages and evaluates contracted services impacting family communications, including division notification and communication tools.Recommends improvements and/or investments to enhance tools, practices, and procedures that support family outreach.Manages collaborative division or team projects as assigned, including Teacher Supply Shop.Develops and maintains Communications Guide outlining use of division name, logos, images, handbooks, print, marketing, and presentation materials, and communications practices.Generates items in accordance with defined brand and style.Oversees and manages video and multimedia production.Manages communications guidance and training for schools and departments, including school-based Digital Communications Liaisons.Oversees division and school public websites and ensures compliance with web accessibility requirements as outlined in the Americans With Disabilities Act.Models the WJCC Strategic Plan Values: Individualism, Integrity, Innovation, Accountability and Collaboration.Evening and/or weekend work may be required.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Public Relations, or related field.Progressively more experience within communications and engagement, some of which will have been in a supervisory or leadership capacity.Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, functions, and current trends of communications and engagement in a public school setting.Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively engage in small or large group settings, facilitate meetings and/or present information, and successfully engage with diverse audiences.Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively, independently, in a team environment, and with various stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, deliver long-term projects, and meet tight deadlines.Ability to supervise and lead projects and personnel.Supervision ExercisedDirectly supervises and evaluates the Family and Community Engagement Specialist and Parent Liaison-Community Outreach Coordinator.Supervision ReceivedPerforms duties under the supervision of the Strategic Communications Officer.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsHighly diverse and complex duties. Must have high tolerance for change and the ability to work on several projects and assignments concurrently. Strong interpersonal skills required in working with diverse groups. Must have initiative and assume responsibility for working productively with minimal supervision.
