Sr Commercial Portfolio Manager – Technology Finance

Description The Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager – Technology Finance underwrites credit exposure for large, complex customer relationships and circumstances and actively manages a portfolio. Includes day-to-day interaction with assigned Sales Reps, managing portfolio risk, and adheres to all regulatory and compliance guidelines. A critical component of this role is early identification of emerging credit problems and industry trends. Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this role. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not detailed below. Services, deepens, and retains assigned profitable customer relationships by pro-actively evaluating and mitigating associated business risks and opportunities, per established Huntington policies, procedures, and Guiding Principles. Owns primary responsibility for the credit and monitoring of Commercial portfolio risks.  Responsible for underwriting quality, portfolio administration, and credit quality of assigned portfolio working directly with the Team Leader, Regional Commercial Management, and Regional Credit Officer.  Underwrites complex and large credit requests for prospects and clients. Possesses a mastery of client and industry expertise, analyzes company performance and the impact of industry and competitive dynamics and macroeconomic events on the creditworthiness of prospects and clients. Accountable for risk evaluation and associated regulatory compliance requirements.  Provides independent, in-depth analysis of financial statements, projections, and business plans; identifies and mitigates key risks.  As appropriate, assists in optimizing customer relationships working directly with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management, and other team members to effectively grow fees, deposits, and portfolio revenue by presenting practical Huntington financial solutions to customers.  Manages delinquencies, collateral exceptions, borrowing base, portfolio reviews, specialized reporting, soft exposure annual reviews, criticized loans, etc. Accountable for and manages assigned portfolio by monitoring performance and trends, identifying issues, and following through for remediation.  Responsible for financial statement spreading, risk rating integrity, periodic reviews, annual reviews, compliance, and regulatory review.  Responsible for maintaining an extensive level of knowledge of corporate banking, investment banking, and commercial banking solutions, in addition to market trends and business drivers. Understands and articulates industry trends, patterns in the economy, and the implications thereof, and proactively shares information across the organization. Must be able to handle a large portfolio of complex/levered clients in addition to taking a leadership role in activities outside of day-to-day portfolio responsibilities. Must deliver solid credit and underwriting analyses and risk rating recommendations. Mentor Credit Analysts and junior-level Portfolio Managers. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. 7+ years of related experience in commercial credit analysis. Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Desktop applications. Strong interpersonal skills and solid written/verbal communication. Sound credit skills. Strong attention to detail. Proficiency with Moody’s spreading software. Ability to prioritize workflow and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications: Has successfully held similar role with a Bank-owed equipment finance organization or like experience. Industry or sub-sector expertise.
