Structural Field Engineer

Job Summary:The Structural Steel Field Engineer reports to the Area Field Engineer/ Project Field Engineer and is responsible for the technical oversight of all concrete activities on the project. The selected applicant shall provide technical direction to the direct hire work force as well as supervision. The Structural Steel Field Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the structural steel related work in his area. #LI-NP1Major Responsibilities: Must have construction experience with the area’s primary, secondary, and miscellaneous steel Coordinate with supervision the work schedule and any material deliveries required Complete training requirements assigned. Preparation of concrete installation work packages Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation. Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all civil/structural quantities. Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required. Interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issue. Reviews specifications, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data. Assist with preparation of construction estimates. Recommend design or installation improvements to improve safety on the project. Education and Experience Requirements: University/B.S degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and 8-10 years field civil/structural engineering or 12-14 years of relevant industry experience. Required Knowledge and Skills: Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred Contract management experience Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred. Experience in mining and metals preferred Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including InfoWorks, TEAMWorks, BPS, PTR, eSub and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset. Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
