The Senior Accountant, a key member oftheAccounting and Financial Services (AFS)Automotive Accounting team will be responsible for recording financial transactions, maintaining the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, performing period closing functions in Oracle, preparing reportsandsupporting schedules, overseeing assigned inventory areas,and assisting with auditsfor automotive-related transactions. Thisrole involves collaborating with the Accounting Supervisor to develop,maintain, and enhance documentation, workflows, and process narratives, leading new initiatives, as well as training, developing, and supporting the accounting staff. Ensure proper accounting of transactions, reserves, and other estimatesin accordance withU.S. GAAP and company policies. Stay current with industry, regulatory, and technical accounting developments toidentifyand communicate potential impactsPrepare and file regulatory reports and other compliance deliverables on a monthly, annual, and ad-hoc basisOwnership over theautomotiveaccounting functions as assigned including relatedmonthly, quarterly, and annual reportingReview and analyze financial data toidentifytrends, variances, and opportunities for improvementReview and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other schedules prepared by staff accountants ensuringtimelycompletion of all deliverables. Document review comments and provide guidance and other feedbackComplete assigned account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and unreconciled items ina timelyandaccuratemannerPlans,coordinatesand executes inventory countswith operations. Timely analyze the resulting adjustments todeterminefurther action neededOverseeinternal audits, external audits, and special reviewsincluding preparation or review of schedules, analysis, documentation, and explanationsProvide support services to stakeholders asrequired, including independently resolving issuesimpactingassigned areas, serving as an escalation point for accountants, and using professional judgment when to escalate to managementResearching errors / irregularities in the accounting process under the Senior Accountant’s ownership to fully understand the underlying causes, thenidentifyand recommend potential solutionsCollaborate with operational teams to manage end-to-end workflow processes foraccurateandtimelytransaction recordingDevelop,maintain, and review internal controls and process documentation; ensure compliance with such documentationLead and support process improvement and automation initiatives, including developing workflows using automation toolsBachelor’s degree in AccountingMBA preferredMinimum three years of senior accountant level work experience with general ledger accounting, period closing, estimates and reserves calculation, account reconciliation, analysis, inventory analysis and/or financial reportingDiversified and industry experience in retail, manufacturing and automotive and/or work experience with a big-4 national CPA firm preferredCPA preferredTechnical accounting knowledge (GAAP)Proficient with Microsoft OfficeOracle Financial Cloud and dealer management systems knowledgeStrong verbal and written communication skillsAnalytical thinker with ability to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions from itAbility to independently and resourcefully seek out ways to find resolution to problems by performing the necessary research to understand the root cause(s) and evaluate various ways that it can be resolvedAbility to stay engaged with a critical eye to the details. Ability to have communication and work products be clear and concise. Ability to determine the appropriate level of detail needed in various communications based on audienceAbility to know when to take a step back to be able to see how one’s tasks fit into the bigger picture and determines what can be done currently to ensure challenges and issues would be averted downstream in the workflowAbility and innate willingness to be self-motivated to complete the duties that comes with this role.
