Because we believe it’s the only way to do business.If you’re ready for a leap forward, we should talk.  Lake Cable. When Delivery Matters… Position Summary:The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager and work closely with the Quality Supervisor to address non-conforming material issues (Red Tags), initiate and manage corrective actions, develop procedures, and best practices, and identify and resolve other quality issues. The Quality Engineer will use quality and problem-solving tools (e.g. root cause analysis) to bring about solutions. This person will work with all aspects of Lake Cable and with a variety of personnel to create and maintain world-class quality at Lake Cable. Essential Functions:Administer the non-conforming material (Red Tag) systemIdentify the appropriate disposition of non-conforming materialRecord and tabulate red tag information (e.g. cost of poor quality, frequency and quantity)Work on system improvements to prevent non-conforming materialWork with other departments to resolve red tagsAdminister the corrective action systemOrganize and lead corrective action teamsAssist in implementing corrective action solutionsPerform analyses to assure corrective actions are working and effectiveInterface with customers on quality issuesInterface with suppliers on quality issuesWork with procedures and best practicesAssist in identifying where procedures will be beneficial and usefulWrite procedures for the Quality DepartmentAssist others in writing proceduresTrain others on procedures and qualityCreate and report periodic quality metricsIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiativesEvaluate the equipment needs of the Quality Department and research available optionsSupport quality testing and inspection when necessaryParticipate on the Safety TeamCoordinate with Bensenville, IL plant on quality initiativesPerform other duties not necessarily outlined above as assignedAdhere to company practices, disciplines, and accepted standards of ethics and behavior Knowledge:Experience with polymer processing (extrusion preferred)Knowledge of and ability to use problem solving tools such as root cause analysis, 5 Why, and fishbone diagrams.Ability to lead teams and run meetings.Ability to evaluate and analyze complex process data.Experience with working in multi-functional teamsAbility to present data and conclusions to technical and non-technical audiences.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookUse micrometers, calipers, and other handheld measurement instruments.Ability to manage workload to achieve delivery dates.Experience with reading and interpreting industry standards.Must read, write, and communicate in English.Skills and Abilities:Microsoft AccessAbility to speak SpanishMechanical AptitudeISO 9001 systemsWire and cable manufacturingUnderstanding of statisticsStatistical process control5S experienceUnderstanding of calibrationQualifications:B.S. in Engineering in one of the following specialties: Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Processing.3+ years in a Quality Engineer role - preferredPI280438830
