About the role:Boston Scientific’s Ablation Catheter Development Team is expanding and currently seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to join our Electrophysiology product development team within the Cardiology division. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Boston Scientific’s fastest-growing areas. With the acquisition of FARAPULSE Inc., Boston Scientific is strengthening its leadership in Personalized EP Solutions, with a strong focus on Atrial Fibrillation. As a Senior R&D Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of next-generation pulsed field ablation catheter technologies. You will be part of a high-performance team dedicated to designing, implementing, and testing disposable medical devices in the electrophysiology space. This role is integral to best-in-class development practices and rigorous, holistic product design—collaborating closely with internal and external partners to bring innovative solutions to patients. Your responsibilities will include:Researching, designing, and evaluating mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, and processesLeading complex single-use device development efforts including requirements, design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing transfer, and V&VDeveloping solutions to challenging engineering problems requiring ingenuity and collaboration across functionsAnalyzing system-level issues and driving technical decision-making in cross-functional teamsEnsuring compliance with the Product Development Process and Design Control deliverablesIntegrating product-level documentation with broader system requirementsOrganizing and planning project assignments with a focus on technical excellence and timely deliveryDriving continuous improvement in product development and ensuring compliance with quality systemsProviding mentorship, technical guidance, and fostering a high-performance team cultureDrafting and submitting intellectual propertyMaintaining detailed documentation throughout all research and development phasesCommunicating effectively with internal stakeholders and external partnersBuilding strong cross-functional relationships to advance program goals Required qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical EngineeringMinimum of 5 years' experience in the medical device industry with a BS, or minimum of 3 years' experience with a graduate degreeExperience with Design Controls and Product Development Process in medical devicesProven experience managing technical aspects of cross-functional project teamsDemonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and influence without authorityStrong passion for understanding and solving problems for end usersExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPreferred qualifications:Proven self-starter with ability to navigate ambiguity and lead teams through complex challengesExperience with electrophysiology devices and/or Class II or Class III medical device developmentBackground in catheter design and understanding of cardiovascular anatomyDemonstrated leadership in product development and technical team managementAbility to synthesize diverse technical inputs and drive holistic solutionsSystems engineering mindset with the ability to define unmet needs and translate them into solutionsFamiliarity with IEC/ISO standards and quality systems (e.g., ISO 13485, risk management protocols) Requisition ID: 617662 Minimum Salary: $ 82600 Maximum Salary: $ 156900 The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role.
