We care about people, and that includes both our residents and employees A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PURCHASING SPECIALIST IAs a Purchasing Specialist I, you spend your assisting the purchasing agent by attending bid openings, mailing out of bids and scanning of documents. Other duties processing purchase requisitions and small purchase orders for purchasing manager's approval. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include maintaining vehicle records such as the vehicle title registration and license plate applications, renewals and recalls. When you are not out in the city, you generally maintain and administer P-Card transactions and records. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in finance, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you doQUALIFICATIONS FOR A PURCHASING SPECIALIST IRequired Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalency.Education Preferred: Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.Required Work Experience: One (1) year experience in purchasing and financial accounting Experience Preferred: Three (3) years' experience in related fields. Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.Are you someone who prefers hands-on work?
