Manager, Ocean Pricing

Time Type: Full TimeSummaryThe Ocean Pricing Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of DSV's estimating/pricing team, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This position will be responsible for managing staff, developing, and implementing operational policies and procedures, managing workflows so that bids and pricing enquiries are responded to in a timely, competitive, and professional manner. Duties and Responsibilities• Manage and oversee all aspects of the Ocean estimating/pricing team, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating activities to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and services.• Provide assistance and guidance to the team when completing bids to appropriately identify and quantify cost factors, such as, Transport, Materials handling, Inspection, Storage and labor expenses.• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.• Manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation, to ensure that all team members are working effectively and efficiently.• Assist the team in appropriately identifying the scope of work, schedules and other technical documents in order to prepare estimates.• Collaborate and foster relationships with subcontractors, clients and internal stakeholders.• Recommend solutions that improve cost reductions and /or profitability.• Monitor that the correct process and procedures are being followed.• Maintain a database of historical and current pricing.• Ensure that Cargowise is used for spot bids.• Monitor that the quote register is updated and always maintained.• Assist in the preparation of bids and estimates.• Track our win/ loss ratio and maintain the same in Carowise and the quote register.• Actively promote a culture of health and safety and participate in safety reviews and progress meetings.• Create and develop an enjoyable working environment, promoting free thinking hard work and mile-stone delivery. Educational background / Work experience• Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management or a related field is preferred.• 5+ years of experience in Freight Forwarding, logistics or related field is required.• 3+ years of progressive experience in estimating/pricing is preferred.  Skills & Competencies• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address operational issues and challenges.• Previous experience in Air Exports is highly preferred.• In-depth knowledge of transportation and logistics processes, regulations, and industry best practices.• Proficiency in using transportation management software, such as TMS or WMS.• Knowledge of lean principles and methodologies is a plus.• Strong math and analytical skills is preferred. Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Processes Supervisory Responsibilities • This position will be responsible for managing a team of operations staff. Preferred Qualifications• Experience in international transportation and logistics management. Language skills• Fluency in English (oral and written). Computer Literacy• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with transportation management software.
