Candidates must be willing to relocate to Tennessee if out of state. What you’ll be doing:Prepare technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studiesPrepare and management the development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writingPrepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodationsPrepare temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plansPrepare Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design plans Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reportsAssist with and prepare roadway design plansLeading or assisting in the development of project designs and directing EIs to successfully execute and deliver project work, while implementing client focused strategiesAspires to work in a team environment and is willing to participate in business development efforts and meetings with clients. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team membersAttends appropriate team meetingsWork on detailed engineering assignments including calculations and relatively standard work activitiesAdjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in resultsIdentify and analyze problems using reasoning to arrive at conclusionsApply standard practices and techniques to accomplish work assignmentsUnderstands and adheres to assigned phase and task schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projectAdheres to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manualWhat you need to have:BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university8-12 years relevant experience in traffic engineering TDOT experience is preferred but not requiredPE is required (Tennessee PE preferred)PTP or PTOE is desired but not requiredMust have proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules and budgetsKnowledge in transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, DOT local programs, public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operationsFamiliarity with DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTOProficiency in traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCSProficiency with OpenRoads Designer desired but not requiredITE membership will be preferred, if not already a memberAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
