Role Overview:
The Traffic Signal Systems Engineer will manage, operate, and improve Chattanooga's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and lead projects related to traffic signal operations, smart city initiatives, and mobility solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize traffic signal timing and network operations.
- Oversee planning, grants, design, construction, and maintenance of transportation systems.
- Lead Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) programs, including CCTV, detection systems, and street lighting.
- Implement Smart City projects integrating technology with transportation.
- Build partnerships with stakeholders, vendors, and community organizations.
- Ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- X+ years' experience in traffic signal operations, ITS, Smart City projects, or transportation technology.
- Knowledge of GIS, traffic engineering, ATMS, and signal prioritization systems.
- Experience with TDOT Local Program guidelines and FHWA ITS processes preferred.
- Strong project management, vendor management, and communication skills.
- Valid Tennessee Driver's License.
