As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead designer for moderate to complex projects, and lead design efforts with limited support required from senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. They will work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include project management, engineering analysis, design and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. Additional responsibilities will include working within the project’s monetary budget, assisting in training and mentoring efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.Principal ResponsibilitiesCoordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexityAssist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviewsCreate project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlinesServe as the point of contact for teams and clientsCreate monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthlyEnsure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely mannerCollaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentationConduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requestedRespond to and resolve client / construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvalsTrain, mentor, and motivate staffBuild, maintain, and develop client relationshipsSkillsAdept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systemsKnowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam RevuAbility to mentor, train, motivate, and lead othersAbility to perform final quality control check in their area of expertiseAbility to sell work and develop client relationshipsStrong training and mentoring skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight staysEducation and ExperienceBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting industryORAssociates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred14 years of experience minimum required, 16 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industryThis position not eligible for sponsorshipSalary Range $95,000 - 115,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
