About the team Elastic Cloud is the fastest growing part of Elastic’s business and dedicated to solving customer problems in the cloud at planetary scale. The Cloud Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team is dedicated to managing the cloud infrastructure, security, and operations of our SaaS offering. We aren’t afraid to get our hands dirty. We are the first and best customer for Elastic's products and our experience helps influence the direction of Elastic’s entire product set. We ensure that our customers can use Elastic Cloud on any provider, in any region, at any scale, with mission-critical reliability. We’re looking for people who are just as passionate about solving issues with distributed systems as they are to automate, code and collaborate to solve problems. Right now, we are looking for an experienced Senior Director to head up, grow, manage, lead, mentor and further develop our fully globally distributed team of cloud specialists. What you will be doing Lead, retain, develop, hire and mentor high-performing and diverse teams across your org Operate mission critical services on a globally distributed level, using cloud hosting providers like AWS, GCP, Azure, and more Act as a key member of the senior leadership team for Elastic’s Cloud business Understand our company strategy and help guide our Cloud product’s direction to realize it Work across teams at Elastic to ensure that we are able to deliver our solutions in production with scale and reliability Guide your team to ensure good engineering practices are being followed As a team and company we value excellence, speed, collaboration, respect, mentorship, and open feedback. What you will bring along You’ve operated production SaaS systems at scale You’ve understood and put into practice SRE principles You’ve grown and led a large team of SREs, engineers, and managers (50+ people), fostering an inclusive environment Excellent written and verbal communication Ego-free attitude — we are here for the success of the team and the company Empathy, transparency, and a good sense of humour Experience managing distributed teams What would be great Experience as a hands-on software engineer so you understand the core principles of the engineering work Experience supporting customer problems and communication Experience or interest in speaking/presenting at tech conferences. Experience in managing on-call schedules (PagerDuty, VictorOps, etc) Experience at Open source projects and companies Experience in communication and organization in large, distributed teams Please note that this is a remote role.
