Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory/Technical Assistant for the department of Chemical Biology within the School of Pharmacy. Under general guidance and direction, the Laboratory/Technical Assistant provides professional level laboratory technical support duties involving cell culture, immunohistochemistry, immunoblotting, genotyping of small animals, and related duties as assigned.Among the key duties of the position are the following: Makes solutions and buffers which includes proper use of the laboratory balance and understanding and use of the mole concept. Homogenizes mouse tissues and prepares protein lysates for western immunoblots. Determines protein concentration on samples. Prepares samples for SDS gels and running SDS polyacrylamide gels. Performs Western blots and probing with primary and secondary antibodies. Maintains cultured cells. Keeps an orderly notebook of what was done and tracking samples stored in freezers or elsewhere. Maintains animal colony, genotyping and keeping record of feeding, weighing and handling animals.
