The ideal candidate must possess extensive conventional, government and jumbo lending experience with an in-depth knowledge of mortgage processes. Additional requirements are a high degree of proficiency with various mortgage technologies and a dynamic hands-on working style in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a large team of experienced mortgage staff in their day-to-day tasks. Training, monitoring and maintaining adherence to all underwriting policies and procedures are also important characteristics of this individual.Manage underwriters to ensure mortgage loans are underwritten per AmeriHome and Investor underwriting guidelines.Ensure team members are fully trained and current on company’s philosophy and policies/procedures;Manage and review day-to-day tasks escalated by the underwriting team, Operation Account Representative managers, clients and exceptions teamCoordinate with Senior Underwriting Manager to review and respond to QA, QC or secondary post-closing/post purchase requestsResponsible for the training, coaching and supervision for all underwriters within the associated interpretation and application of all company overlays and agency requirements.Track and monitor underwriting metrics including productivity, quality, turn-times, customer service communication and all required service level agreementsEvaluate the structure of the Underwriting team and plan for continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness;Provide a consistent approach to new hire training of underwriters and peer managersResponsible for interviewing, hiring and onboarding of new hires.Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with other departmentsPerform other duties as assignedWhat you'll need: 5+ years underwriting experience and 7+ in the mortgage industryWorking knowledge of Non-Delegated, Retail and/or Correspondent processesExperience with FNMA/FHLMC and jumbo productsExperience in product and credit risk management analysis3+ years of previous management experience requiredProject management experienceCollege degree preferred but not requiredCurrent advanced knowledge of industry-specific underwriting guidelines and agency requirementsProficiency with automated underwriting systems such as Desktop Underwriter and Loan Product AdvisorGood verbal and written communication skillsAbility to provide outstanding customer service in fast-paced environmentsProficient working knowledge of computerized applications such as word processing, excel spreadsheets, database, presentation software, email and specialized business applications softwarePresentation skills necessary to effectively communicate, update, persuade and/or facilitate discussions with all levels of management as well as external clients.Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other departments and investor agencies as requiredPrioritization and time management skillsBenefits you’ll love:We offer all the important things you'd want — like competitive salaries, an ownership stake in the company, medical and dental insurance, time off, a great 401k matching program, tuition assistance program, an employee volunteer program, and a wellness program.
