Interior Designer Position:We are a boutique full service interior design firm located in the historic district of Laurel, Maryland. Our projects include high-end residential, branded corporate environments, hospitality, multi-family, senior living, and full renovations. We are offering to the ideal candidate, the ability to work on different types of projects and not be locked into redundant and repetitive projects.We are seeking a creative and innovative Interior Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing various interior design projects. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from residential to commercial, using your unique perspective to create spaces. The successful candidate will be a critical thinker who is able to translate the needs and wants of clients into beautiful and innovative designs.You must demonstrate an understanding of Interiors and Architectural building materials and finishes, building systems, specifications, current and applicable building and fire codes, design and detailing standards and construction techniques, and current market trends. Knowledge of Interior Architecture and Architectural design specifically related to workplace planning, design concept development, design documentation, construction documentation, construction administration, and furniture (FF&E), and materials selection and specifications is a plus. The designer will work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, vendors, and fabricators.Responsibilities Include:Report directly to the Principal Designer.Develop and present potential design concepts, based on the client’s needs, desires, and budget.Create detailed drawings and 3D models of interior spaces, furniture layouts, and interior finishes using computer-aided design (CAD) software (Revit and Chief Architect a plus).Work on design assignments that will include space planning, concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.Coordinate with architects, builders, and contractors to ensure the successful implementation of designs.Review shop drawings, and material submittals and conduct periodic site visits during construction.Select and specify materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes for interior spaces.Assist with research, sourcing, and pricing.Sampling, CFA’s, and vendor follow through.Manage product images; scanning, saving, and printing.Create digital client presentations using Canva and PowerPoint.Experience using Studio Designer(Project Management Software) with all design necessary updates.Update Master Task List.Create and maintain design binders.Assist with updating and maintaining the resource library.Stay up to date with the latest interior design trends, materials, and technology to ensure our projects are at the forefront of the industry.Assist in managing the designs of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.Provide design support and documentation during the completion and execution of all design phases.Minimum Qualifications:Professional degree in Architecture and/or Interior Design.On track for professional licensure in interior design or architecture.Proficient in design software programs- CAD, Revit, sketch-up, Chief Architect a plus, and Microsoft Office.Minimum 5 years of experience or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.General understanding of sustainable strategies and principles including familiarity with LEED or other green building rating systems.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.NCIDQ or AIA certification is preferred, but not required.Possesses general knowledge of building codes and ADA guidelines as they relate to life safety and space planning.Team player with a collaborative mindset.Portfolios must be submitted for all design positions (Architecture, Interiors, Planning, etc).
