The Accounting & Finance Manager is responsible for managing the financial operations of under the direction of the Director of Finance. The Accounting & Finance Manager leads the daily operations of the Finance team and provides leadership with respect to development, evaluation and implementation of financial processes.Perks & Benefits: Minimum 3 weeks vacationPension PlanExcellent employee benefits and competitive salariesEducation and Financial AssistanceComprehensive organization and site/program orientationVolunteer experiencesAn exciting learning environmentA culturally diverse workplaceA safe, work environment with polices on a respectful workplace, workplace violence and working aloneResponsibilities:LeadershipTo motivate, evaluate, coach and mentor the Finance staffAssists DOF in reporting to the Finance Committee and may represent the company to external stakeholders in the absence of and with guidance from the DOFStrategyTo assist the Director of Finance in analyzing growth opportunities in programs or site managementUnder the direction of the DOF, develop, implement, and monitor operating and capital budgets and assist in developing and implementing business plans in each of the business units that are reflective of the longer-term strategies, objectives and priorities of the organization.To assist in the development of clear and measurable accountabilities for delivery of stated objectivesOperations and ControlTo ensure appropriate and satisfactory systems are in place for monitoring group financial performance against plans and budgetsTo monitor financial performance of all business units and advise the DOF of significant variances and recommend appropriate remedial actionsTo maintain an effective system of controls throughout the group, covering financial as well as non-financial controlsTo ensure that operating objectives and standards of performance for the Finance Department are clearly understood and achieved by employeesTo ensure that the Company and its businesses (9 in total) comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and, where appropriate, best practiceTo ensure that appropriate standards of conduct are established and complied with complete monthly bank reconciliations for all accountsOversee all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activityWork together with Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to ensure Payroll transactions are accurate, complete and processed as requiredPrepare journal entries, including month-end entries and year-end adjustmentsEnsure all reconciliations are completed as required and provided to DOF for monthly reviewAllocate costs across entities using appropriate methodologiesPrepare audit working papers for all entities and work with external auditors in the conduct of the annual auditsCommunication and ReportingTo liaise with the DOF and keep him/her informed of all financial issuesTo develop and provide suitable financial and operational reports to allow the DOF, CEO and the Board to assess the performance of the business and the achievement of the agreed strategy and budgetTo maintain an appropriate and satisfactory system for financial management reporting on a monthly basis and deliver financial reports to managers monthlyAs needed, assist the DOF in managing external relationships with WRHA officials, Manitoba Family Services and Housing officials, Boards of managed facilities, staff/managers at financial institutions, other vendors and service providers and the Mennonite constituencyManagementTo direct and oversee the daily operations of the Finance department, ensuring its departmental goals and objectives are aligned with the corporate strategic plan as communicated by the DOF, and work closely with the HR and IT departments in meeting their goals and objectivesMonitor performance and perform regular performance reviews of Finance staffPhysical DemandsThis is an office position requiring sitting and reading computer screens for extended periods of time along with continuous attention to detailPhysical and mental health wellness in order to meet the demands of the positionAbility to work in a dynamic healthcare environment requiring flexibility to frequently changing priorities and requirementsSupervisory ResponsibilityDirectly supervises two Accounting Clerks (CUPE), one Financial Analyst (Non-Union), and any casual positions that may be required.
