Voted as one of Phoenix Business Journal's 'Best Places to Work,' Sunland offers employees: Competitive Weekly Pay and Paid Time Off 401(K) Employer MatchTuition Reimbursement Work/Life Balance and Community InvolvementComprehensive Health Benefits including; Health, Dental, VisionLife/Disability Insurances Award Winning Peers & ProjectsAnd A Foundation Built on SafetyPOSITION PURPOSEThe Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic travels to job sites to perform skilled tasks in the repair of all fleet vehicles, machinery, motors, tools and equipment used by the company.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEmployee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.Serves as a safety ambassador by complying with federal, state and local laws, as well as Company safety policy, enforces safe work practices, and proactively identifies and remedies worksite hazards.Directs all employees to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety guidelines at all times.Conducts Safety Meetings to include daily PTP & weekly Tailgate Topics.Works directly with Sunland supervisors to receive and prepare preventative maintenance (PM) work orders; relays PM work orders, assignments, messages and information to and from Mechanics.Diagnose hydraulic systems. Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks to include: pavers, rollers, milling machines, dump trucks, water trucks, boot trucks, front-end loaders, scrapers, skid steers, skip loaders and motor graders. May also maintain other fleet vehicles.Fabricate, modify and install special equipment or replacement parts using mills, lathes, welders, torch sets, plasma cutters and metal cutting saws.Perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires and clutches. Change filters, and oil and lubricate vehicles and motor driven equipment.Proficient in troubleshooting machine systems to include: hydraulics, power trains and engines.Proficient in component replacement with equipment such as, transmissions, engines, differentials, torque convertors and final drives. Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections. All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all safety guidelines at all times as an essential part of their job responsibilities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTMust be able to operate vehicles and trailers in a safe manner in compliance with local, state and federal traffic laws. Must operate equipment, machinery and other tools in compliance with safety guidelines.Must be able to work outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.Must be able to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment in a variety of different situations.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKThis is a full time position. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.TRAVELMust be willing to travel to any and all jobsites without exception (including staying away from home if necessary.)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Work Experience Minimum of five (5) years of experience working on heavy equipment.High School Diploma or GED required.Excellent decision making skills.Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.Scanner diagnostics a plus: OTC vehicle/CAT ET.Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak, read and write English.Certifications, Licenses, and RegistrationsA current driver's license is required. A CDL license is preferred and may even be required for some departments/divisions.Medical certification required.Must have a clean motor-vehicle record.
