Join Our Campus Security Team as a Public Safety Officer Lake Superior State University is seeking a dedicated Public Safety Officer to help maintain a safe and welcoming campus environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our university community while building valuable experience in public safety. What You'll Do Patrol campus grounds on foot and by vehicle to ensure safety and security Respond to emergency calls and incidents with professionalism and care Conduct safety escorts for community members across campus Monitor security systems and access control points Write clear, accurate incident reports and maintain detailed records Assist with parking enforcement and traffic control during events Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when needed What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm and think clearly during stressful situations Physical fitness to perform patrol duties and respond to emergencies Valid driver's license with clean driving record Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Previous security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred but not required Why Choose Lake Superior State University We offer competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
