Position Details Elementary Teacher 3 – 5 – Special Education Beacon Day Treatment Center And any positions that result from the filling of this posting QUALIFICATIONS: Michigan Special Education Teacher Certification (Emotionally Impaired -SE certification) Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with proper endorsements Experience in a center based program preferred Experience working with students with Emotional Impairments preferred Must meet North Central requirements for this position Must meet MCL 380.1531 & Administrative Rules Governing the Certification of MI Teachers Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education and/or Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. DUTIES: Adapt, accommodate, and modify the general education curricula, pedagogy, and learning environments for students. Align and adapt the student’s program with the general education curriculum Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized behavior management strategies and plans. Must prepare and implement behavior plans based upon functional behavioral assessments. Use a range of curriculum guides to assist with identifying functional goals. Employ current assessment instruments and approaches, intervention methodologies, strategies, and techniques that are appropriate for students linking assessment outcomes to curriculum planning.
