Job Description We are seeking an Execution Engineer – Material Flow & Robotics Deployment to join the Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) within the Manufacturing Systems Design and Deployment organization. In this role, you will support the identification, development, and deployment of automation technologies that improve efficiency and reduce waste in manufacturing environments. You will work with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and plant partners to help implement solutions such as AMRs, AFTs, ASRS, and advanced kitting/sequencing systems. This role emphasizes hands-on execution, problem-solving, and collaboration throughout project deployment.What You’ll DoSupport deployment of automation technologies including AMRs, AFTs, ASRS, and kitting/sequencing systemsAssist in identifying automation opportunities with ARC Solutions Teams to improve material flow and operational efficiencyConduct basic labor studies using GMOS and support analysis of indirect material movementSupport determination of unit counts and routing needs for automation solutionsParticipate in layout reviews, simulations, and process optimization activitiesWork with ARC Simulation and Solution Teams to assist project execution from PO to launchContribute to the optimization of material flow through automation and development of future-state processesSupport development of timing plans, cost considerations, and execution strategiesPartner with Material Execution Leads, Manufacturing Innovation Teams, and other stakeholders to drive continuous improvementCollaborate with strategic suppliers and plant partners during automation executionAssist in resolving issues involving containerization, logistics, and cross-functional partnersSupport feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed automation projectsCoordinate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Ops, and IT for system integration needsAssist with PMP plans, PCP documentation, JES/TIS updates, and ULOC/DLOC/CMA coordinationRequired Qualifications2+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, automation deployment, or material flow engineeringHands-on experience supporting deployment or integration of automation technologies such as:Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)Automated Fork Trucks (AFTs)Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS)Experience using labor analysis tools to conduct or support indirect labor studiesFamiliarity with layout optimization tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Siemens Tecnomatix, FlexSim)Basic understanding of PLCs, robotic systems, or industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)Ability to assist with PMP plans, PCP assignments, and documentation updates (JES/TIS, ULOC/DLOC, CMA)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including participation in feasibility or cost-benefit evaluationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Robotics, or a related field (or equivalent experience) GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
